What label stock should I use?
Standard address labels are fine for desks and IT equipment. Anything handled roughly, stored in a workshop or exposed to cleaning products wants polyester or vinyl with a permanent adhesive.
Do I need a special label printer?
No. An ordinary office printer and a sheet of address labels covers most needs. A dedicated label printer is convenient at volume but is not required to start.
What happens if a label falls off?
Reprint it and scan it against the existing record. The asset keeps its whole history, so a replaced label never costs you the audit trail.
Where should the label go?
Somewhere visible without moving or opening the item, away from wear surfaces and heat, and consistently across items of the same type. Predictable placement is what makes scanning fast enough to become a habit.
